A journey to the centre of the Earth: guided tour of the copper mine in Montecatini Val di Cecina.

Guided tour along the tunnels of the 19th century most important European copper mine, a site currently considered one of the best preserved industrial archeology complex in Tuscany. The tour represents a unique opportunity to learn about the 35 Kilometers of tunnel network dug during the years of activity, the excavation techniques adopted from the Etruscan era to the 19th century, the extraction procedures and the risky life of miners. The tour also features a visit to the buildings of the administration department, the tower of an extraction shaft with its elevator machine and cargo bins and the mine descent (the 4° level of the copper mine, 100 meters deep).
