The Villa delle Cento Stanze
decorated with beautiful pictorial decorations
The Villa di Monterufoli is a large manor house located near Libbiano, on the site of a medieval castle, the remains of which have now disappeared.
The castle was bought, during the ‘600, by the Maffei family of Volterra, who began the construction of the villa where they welcomed various famous personalities such as the painter Salvador Rosa.
It was renamed by the inhabitants of the area with the name of Villa of the hundred rooms, due to the size of the building. Inside there are many rooms decorated with paintings of various kinds, from floral decorations to more elaborate decorative complexes.
