The Sanctuary of the Madonna del Libro
An ancient history of devotion
The Madonna del Libro sanctuary is located near the town Leccia. It was built at the beginning of the 17h century and is a perfect example of the working-class religious architecture of the time.
The church has a T-shaped floor plan and an outside porch on big pillars. Its name, which means “Our Lady of the Book”, comes from a painting that’s kept in the church, a Madonna and Child where Virgin Mary is depicted while reading a book.
