PISA – PIAZZA DUOMO

Pisa and its wonderful square

with the Leaning Tower

The famous Piazza Duomo (“Cathedral Square”), also called Piazza dei Miracoli, is undoubtedly one of the city’s most famous landmarks. It is officially a world heritage site, with its Cathedral, which was built between 1063 and 1118 in a typical Pisan Romanesque style, and the Leaning Tower, a bell tower dating back to the 12th century, which is one of the most well-known Italian monuments because of its inclination.
Pisa used to be a very important maritime republic.
