Parish Church of San Giovanni in Monte Voltraio
Known since the 9th century
It’s the parish church of the Montevoltraio castle, located in Palagione and known since the 9th century.
Today, only a few and hard-to-interpret remains are left. The decorations on these remains suggest that the church was rebuilt at the end of the 11th century or at the beginning of the 12th century. In particular, some big capitals, which unfortunately have recently been stolen, and the walls of the apse are the only things left.
