The Palazzo Minucci Solaini
It currently houses two museum sites
It is decidedly the best preserved Renaissance building in Volterra. It has a square layout with rooms that revolve around a cloister, a portico on the ground floor, which serves as a light well and a reception and work area, when necessary. In the cloister there is a cistern, fed by rainwater that fell on the roof of the building, and which was also accessible from the upper floors. Numerous rooms in the interior were frescoed and the wooden floors of the rooms were decorated with paintings and marquetry. The Palace houses the Pinacoteca and Civic Museum and the Ecomuseum of alabaster.
