The “borgo” of Micciano
A fascinating urban structure
Originally, Micciano was a castle, of which a few parts of the standing buildings and the urban structure are the only traces, together with its location on top of a rocky spur between the Trossa stream and the Adio stream. In 1014, it was under the control of the S. Pietro monastery in Monteverdi, and it went under the bishop of Volterra’s control in 1186, after its inhabitants swore allegiance to the municipality of Volterra.
