Palazzo Bicocchi in Pomarance

Take a look into the life of the bourgeoisie in the 19th century

The municipality of Pomarance bought the building in 1980 and allocated parts of it to a museum.
The “palazzo” offers an insight into the life of the bourgeoisie in a small town in the 1800s.

The family that used to live here was wealthy, and its members were part of the town’s administration throughout the years.
Their wealth came mainly from managing land properties, but they also invested in industrial activities.

Inside the building, visitors will find valuable furniture and decorations, ranging from the fabrics to the wallpapers, which give the “palazzo” a wealthy and luxurious ambience. Palazzo Bicocchi is a perfect example of this style, which differs so much from today’s, also because it’s one of the few buildings where this specific style is still conserved so well. As a matter of fact, other similar “palazzi” have undergone various renovation and modernisation processes.
Visitors can find out more by visiting the Casa Bicocchi museum, located inside the “palazzo”.

Both the house and the historical halls of Palazzo Ricci (Ricci’s Palace) host permanent exhibitions dedicated to the Warriors and Craftsmen of the time. You will journey through the history of the Paleolithic era all the way to and including the Renaissance.
